LC3 How do Polar Bears keep warm?

LC4 What do we mean by hot and cold colours?

LC5 Why do people usually like going to hot places for their holidays?

LC6 Why do we wear different clothes in summer and winter?

LC7 How can we recreate a Meerkat dance?

LC8 Reflection: Would you rather be a Meerkat or a Penguin?

Harvest time in Oak Class

We have had a busy week learning about the traditions of Harvest time. As a class we wrote a Harvest prayer and the children were very thoughtful about the ideas they wanted to share.

Oak Class Harvest Prayer

In English we have been looking at different examples of non-fiction text. This week we have been investigating the different features of instructions. To support our Harvest learning we worked together to follow a set of instructions by following a recipe for vegetable soup.

We were very good at peeling, chopping  and mixing the vegetables!

Oak Class Artists

Within our art session we have been studying the Italian artist Giuseppe Arcimboldo (also spelled Arcimboldi; 1527 - 1593) We have looked at the images he created and we talked about why we did and did not like his work.

As a group we have designed our faces inspired by the work of Arcimboldo using vegetables and fruit. Then we designed individual faces and created our own collages using fruit and vegetables. (Awaiting slideshow as art work is in progress!)

We aspire to keep our children safe, at school and online...
